I am Jyoti Thakur working as Principal Consultant with Xebia, started my career 13 years back. I have done Advance Diploma in Multimedia from Arena and I’m Certified Usability Analyst from Human Factors International. I am part of Xebia since 2008. One of the “Best” company in my tenure. My specialties lie in User Interface designing and Usability Analysis. I have been involved in multiple projects where I got the opportunity to work in different technology and domains. I am Vandana and have been working with Xebia from June 2008. Though I hold a Masters of Arts degree and Diploma in Office Management, I have versatile experiences in Merchandising, HR & Administration, Facilities and I am thankful to Xebia for giving me an opportunity to explore Public Relations. I came into Xebia with no high hopes but the culture and dynamic team what Xebia has, made me think to do something different and more to explore myself. Xebia has not only given me a platform to understand the meaning of Agile, learning at every stage with fantabulous people, sharing knowledge, motivation through employee reward and recognition program but also a place to work with fun where people are fairly given time to freshen up with outdoor activities like Xebia Family day, Xebia Sports day, Xebia Happy Hours and the most awaited offsite trip SKIBIA.
I joined Xebia after completing my BTech(ICT) from DA-IICT, Gandhinagar, Gujarat as a fresher. It has been are great experience for the past 5.5+ years. Xebia's principles like people's first and knowledge sharing, flat structure has been outstanding. Knowledge sharing is followed religiously here and it has helped me a lot to improve my skills technically and otherwise. I presented XTR 5 times and gave many XKE sessions and wrote blogs. This is a good thing that I always cherish. There was always an encouragement to learn new technologies and share them. This thing has helped me become good at technologies like Grails, Java, Groovy, Spring, Hibernate, Liferay. This is an excellent virtue that a company can provide to its employees.
Mayur joined Xebia 5 years ago, at that time Xebia India was a group of 15 talented people. Now he works as a Principal Consultant in a developer/lead role continuously playing with the latest and greatest in technology. The culture and the value system keep me going. We have grown at a rapid pace but the culture of the company hasn't changed a bit. The focus on technology and the importance given to people in the organization attracted me most towards Xebia. I was looking for a company which provided a platform where I can grow in the technology space, continuously learn. Xebia with its flat organization structure, its knowledge sharing culture and Agile environment provided all that. I am really glad that I made the decision of joining Xebia 5 years back.
In last couple of years I have learned so many new things and because of that did so many different things, I think there will be very few companies which provides such kind of platform to an employee. In addition to not just growing in technical space, I have got the chance to do large array of assignments ranging from software projects to Agile coaching & training assignments to being a knowledge facilitator. Xebia culture encouraged me to present in conferences and share knowledge both inside and outside the organization through various other mediums. The focus on quality, in everything Xebia does not just software development, is not a buzzword here but is part of life here. Xebia's agile culture combined with its value system has helped me in becoming a true Agile professional. I thought I will be able to satisfy my thirst for knowledge when I joined Xebia but now I am more thirsty than ever before.
I joined Xebia as 5th employee of India office. Before that I was working for Ionidea, Bangalore for a couple of years, after completing B.E. Computer Science from Visvesvaraya Technological University. I joined Xebia because of its strong focus on technology and people, a flat hierarchy agile company was always a bonus.
Over the years, I have not only gained depth in technical knowledge, but also breadth in technical knowledge, and the XKEs & XTRs have been main reasons behind it. Xebia also provided me platform to present at conferences and submit papers, thus a gain in soft skills. I have also had opportunities to work in distributed agile mode with varying geographies. Non regular assignments, such as Agile coach, have always been very interesting. There is so much to learn for me yet, at Xebia.
The more the software industry matures, the more it is accepted by the software engineering community that the people involved in software development processes deserve more attention than the processes or technologies themselves. Xebia, with People First as its core value, pays more attention to the people working on software projects.
